Talkin’ ’bout a Resolution

Published by captspacebat under Art, BPD, Death, Legal, Money, Sex Edit This

Looking back at my list of resolutions, it seems such so pitiably small in comparison with my usual extensive diatribes:

Resolutions for 2009:

  1. Get published,
  2. Get exhibited,
  3. Get rich(er) &/or better, and
  4. Get out of the United Kingdom before the Olympics.

Thinking about them, they do seem almost to follow one from the other, although in time scale getting exhibited might be first, as I actually have done some paintings; the writing does seem almost insurmountable an obstacle, but resolved I am to start as soon as possible.  What do I have stopping me? Well, apart from all the monsters that will be given fresh life in my head, not very much.  That’s it - decided - apart from a few commitments before the New Year, I only have one project that I am also trying to avoid getting around to doing, well may be two or so - scribing starts in the New Year: 1000 words a day until I’m done and whilst setting about geo-coding each day as a mindless yet technically pleasing come-down.

Current news and soap story lines are bringing some similar experiences to mine into the public domain and - although I have been believed by more than one person who wasn’t me it really is time to let it all out.  I realise that it probably won’t be perfect first time, nor even that a few drafts will hone it into the sublime masterpiece that I so fondly imagine, but that’s no reason not to start and to try and to bring to an acceptable completion, understanding that in some ways the mere fact of putting it all down on paper would be a remarkable achievement; publication will follow.  I have put it off for too long - that was part of my rationale for joining this blogging site; to get back into the rhythm of having to put something meaningful down in words each day.

The pictures are coming along slowly - little space at home and the limited space  in the “art room” in Wimbledon being ever further encroached upon by the predations of the I.T. suite.  That I ever thought that I would hear myself complain so!  I have a great couple of images that I want to try to work together: the Salon 54 logo and the now abandoned Eurostar terminal at Waterloo Station.  The issue of space could be overcome by reversing my ever-increasingly expansive artistic expression and trying to capture the essence of the two in a much smaller space, concentrating on the accuracy and focussing on what is important.  Wasn’t that rather how this all started … ?

Diffusion rules! or should that be “Diffraction gratings?”  Anyhow, another self-portrait:
